Weekly sales metrics (pictured above: Goldman Sachs - International Council of Shopping Centers) as well as Redbook are flagging further consumer weakness for July.  
Confidence has fallen due to increased economic uncertainty (mostly Europe).  My fear of the self-fulfilling prophecy of recession is currently coming to fruition.  Europe must be dealt with now.  In fact, it may already be too late.
